Our verdict

Renault Group's footprint was 107,354,829 tCO2e in 2025, down slightly from 108,111,142 t in 2024; use-phase emissions fell 4%, but emissions from purchased goods rose as battery volumes grew. 49% of its electricity was renewable at the end of 2025, partly through long-term PPAs, but renewable heat was only 4%. Its targets are SBTi-validated and absolute: a 71.71% cut in Scope 1 and 2 and a 57.01% cut in Scope 3 by 2035 from 2019. In April 2025 UK and EU competition regulators fined it over a cartel on advertising car recyclability. InfluenceMap finds it lobbied to weaken EU car CO2 standards in 2025-26.
